Plumbing FAQs for Warrawee Households

1000+ five-star reviews

Choosing a plumber usually comes down to a handful of practical questions: what it costs, how fast someone arrives, and whether they understand the houses in your street.

This page answers the questions we hear most from locals, from fixed pricing to the quirks of century-old estate plumbing.

If your question is not covered here, the Warrawee home page sets out the full range of services, or you can simply call and ask a licensed plumber directly.

Pricing and quotes

How much does a plumber cost?

We give you a fixed written price before any work begins, so the number you approve is the number on the invoice, with no hourly meter running and no overtime loading for nights or weekends. Every job is assessed on its own merits, because a like-for-like tap washer and a full sewer relining on a deep block are different animals entirely.

Do you charge a call out fee?

No. Getting a licensed plumber to your door costs nothing, and the assessment and quote are free, so you only ever pay for work you have approved in writing. If the price does not suit, you owe us nothing and we shake hands and leave.

Do you accept payment plans?

We do. Card, cash and payment plans are all accepted, which matters on the bigger jobs such as whole-house replumbs or hot water replacements where the investment is substantial.

Availability and emergencies

How quickly can you get here in an emergency?

A licensed plumber answers the phone day and night, including weekends and public holidays. Because our vans work these streets constantly rather than commuting across Sydney, the van reaching you has usually just finished a job nearby. If water is going where it should not, our emergency plumbing team treats it as exactly that.

What should I do while I wait for a plumber?

Turn off the water at the meter for a burst, isolate the gas at the meter if you smell gas, and switch off a leaking hot water system at its valve. Our pages on toilet overflows, no hot water and gas leaks each open with the exact make-safe steps, so you are not standing in the hallway guessing.

Services and licensing

What plumbing work do you cover?

Everything a household needs, organised into four hubs: emergency plumbing, general plumbing, drainage and hot water. Within those sit tap and shower repairs, bathroom and kitchen work, leak detection, backflow testing, CCTV drain inspections and pipe relining.

Are your plumbers licensed?

Every plumber on the team holds a full NSW licence with full insurance behind every job. Our licence number, 275278C, appears on this site and on every invoice we issue.

Can you handle older heritage homes?

That is where much of our work lives. Estate-era houses around the conservation areas still carry galvanised supply lines, salt-glazed earthenware sewers and gas runs installed generations ago, and we bring those services to current standard carefully. We work regularly around original tessellated tiles and period fittings, the houses known by names like Pibrac and Cheddington rather than numbers, without stripping out their character.

Do you work on apartments as well as houses?

Yes. The newer buildings clustered along the rail corridor carry their own mix of flexi hoses, concealed in-wall cistern frames and compact hot water units, and we handle all of them. A single failed hose can flood units below, so we treat those buildings with the urgency they deserve.

Local plumbing questions

Why do drains block so often around here?

The mature gardens are the answer. Camellias, liquidambars and towering eucalypts on the old quarter-acre blocks push fine roots into century-old earthenware joints, and autumn leaf-drop loads gutters and pits ahead of the spring storms. Our blocked drains page explains the clear-then-confirm approach, and CCTV drain inspections show you exactly what is happening underground before anyone digs.

Why is my water pressure so low?

In unrenovated Federation homes, corroding galvanised services choke flow from the street, narrowing from the inside over decades. A pressure test usually confirms it, and staged replumbing of the worst sections restores pressure.

Do you offer a warranty on your work?

Every job carries our Lifetime Labour Warranty. If the workmanship is not right, we come back and make it right at no cost, without argument and without a fresh invoice.

Do you service nearby suburbs?

We cover Turramurra, Wahroonga, Normanhurst, Pymble and Waitara as well, each with its own page so neighbours can read about the work on their own streets: Turramurra, Wahroonga, Normanhurst, Pymble and Waitara.
